Innovative Learning

Our Kodesh program is skills-based, providing students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and become independent learners.

Hillel Academy utilizes innovative educational methodology by providing a focused, high-quality education with nationally recognized General Studies curricula.

Special Education and Therapy Services

Hillel Academy maintains highly trained special educators for Judaic and General Studies. The school offers an outstanding team of therapists who provide Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST), and more, to help ensure all our students reach their potential. We work closely with Keshet of the Rockies, Results Learning, Inside Behavior, Denver Public Schools, and several academic service providers to ensure no child is left behind, resulting in comprehensive services for individual students needing additional help.

Dedicated Staff

Kodesh and General studies are taught by experienced Rebbeim, Moros, and teachers who focus on the individual needs of every student. Our professional, qualified faculty care for their students and are committed to their growth and well-being. The core of our staff consists of highly experienced teachers and is enhanced by newer teachers who infuse the school with innovation and energy.

Activities / Extracurricular

To complement their comprehensive educational programming, students are engaged in various Ruach activities and extracurricular learning programs in school and on field trips. Monthly Rosh Chodesh activities, Chanukah presentations, and pre-Yom Tov events add excitement and energy to the school environment. Meaningful extra-curricular programs are provided during vacations and after school to enhance the student’s appreciation of Judaism.

Hillel Academy provides and warm welcoming environment that enables each student to grow and develop at their own pace while learning skills and developing middos that will carry them through life.

Limudei Kodesh

Our Judaic studies program is skills-based, providing students with the tools to become independent learners. This begins with a strong foundation in Kriah (Hebrew reading) using the successful Kriability program. Students eventually develop an extensive Hebrew vocabulary, focusing on common nouns and shorashim (root words), to learn how to read and translate Chumash. They then progress to incorporating prefixes and suffixes, followed by mastering Rashi script and comprehension. This process empowers students to become independent learners.

Many of our Chumash classes use the highly acclaimed L’havin U’lehaskil curriculum. Boys begin learning Mishnayos in 3rd grade and Gemara in 5th grade. Girls focus on Mikrah with meforshim (commentaries), Dinim (laws), and Yahadus (Jewish life). Upon graduation, students are well-prepared to advance to mainstream yeshivos and high schools.

Students learn the details and laws of Jewish holidays and daily living in a meaningful way, allowing them to fully participate in Jewish life. They are taught by experienced Rebbeim and teachers with lifelong experience in the field of learning, transmitting, and living with Judaism’s teachings, who serve not only as teachers but as role models.

General Studies

Our General Studies program is presented through nationally recognized curricula and materials, such as Daily 5 Literacy Framework, 6+1 Traits of Writing, and Math in Focus, based on the renowned framework that recognizes problem-solving skills as central to learning.

All curricular materials are up-to-date and are reviewed by faculty committees regularly to ensure current, relevant, and appropriate learning opportunities for our students.

Teachers are degreed, licensed, and experienced in their teaching specialties. They are trained in the most current, effective teaching strategies and direct their teaching to the individual, differing needs of students. Educational consultants guide teachers in differentiation and student motivation.

Hillel Academy is committed to faculty development through initiatives such as Project Based Learning (PBL) training, and workshops on effective instruction. We also provide extensive mentoring to new teachers, aiming to support their growth into master educators.

My primary focus as principal is ensuring the success of every child to the best of their abilities. Our curriculum is customized to our students’ diverse needs, whether gifted or facing challenges. This involves coordinating services like occupational therapy, tutoring, Denver Public Schools Services, social-emotional support, sensitivity training, as well as educational testing and Title 1 services. My goal is to foster an environment at Hillel Academy where every student can excel and flourish. Witnessing each student succeed in their unique way while creating a nurturing and inclusive experience, brings me the greatest joy.

Early Childhood Education

The Hillel Academy Early Learning Center (Pre-School and Kindergarten) lays the foundation for social and academic success. In a warm, supportive environment, children discover much more than numbers, letters, and colors. Through discussions about stories, holidays, and Jewish values, they learn to ask questions, think through problems, and explore possible answers. Students are constantly learning in a happy and relaxed atmosphere, whether singing, dancing, or exploring in hands-on learning centers.

The Parsha of the week provides a framework for learning about middos and ethical behavior, such as how to do acts of chesed and judge others favorably. Most importantly, Hillel’s preschoolers learn how to get along with others. This is the best time of life to nurture budding social skills, build first friendships, and learn how to interact with peers and adults.

Learning about each of the Jewish holidays plays a significant role in the Early Learning Center. From Rosh Hashana to Shavuos, the students feel the excitement of the upcoming holiday. Through hands-on activities, projects, and discussions, the children absorb the lessons and mitzvos of each Yom Tov.
